Georgia's resident arrested after detention on South-Ossetian border

The Tskhinvali District Court has ruled to arrest Giorgi Gorgisheli, a citizen of Georgia, suspected of a repeated violation of the border, for two months.

According to the South-Ossetian KGB (Committee for State Security) the above 22-year-old resident of the Mereti village of the Gori District of Georgia was detained on June 20 in the vicinity of the village of Ksius of the Tskhinvali District. A case has been opened against him under Article 322 of the Russia Criminal Code (illegal border crossing).

"It has been established that this person had been already detained in this May for a similar offense and subjected to administrative liability with subsequent expulsion out of South Ossetia," the KGB said in its statement.

On June 22, the above Tskhinvali court ruled to place the detainee into custody for the period of preliminary investigation, the KGB of South Ossetia reported on the same day in its Facebook page.

So far, there were no comments of the Georgian party regarding the detention and arrest of Giorgi Gorgisheli.
