Arutyun Saribekyan released from custody

By a court judgement, the freedom restraint measure for Arutyun Saribekyan, accused of an attempt to capture the power in Armenia, has been changed to a recognizance not to leave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 13, 2017, Arutyun Saribekyan went on a hunger strike, demanding to release him from custody.

On June 22, at a regular court session on the case of capturing power in Armenia, the court ruled to release the defendant Arutyun Saribekyan from custody, the "News.am" reports with reference to the press service of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, noting that custody was replaced by the recognizance not to leave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Saribekyan, along with 19 other defendants, detained on November 25, 2015, is a figurant of the case on setting up a criminal community and illegal arms possession. Investigators believe that the members of the grouping had planned to attack the presidential residence, the Constitutional Court, the parliament, other governmental buildings and the Public Television of Armenia.
