Head of Chechen govt appointed advisor to Russian president

The decree on appointing Abubakar Edelgeriev, the head of the Chechen government, to the post of adviser to the Russian president Vladimir Putin was published today by the Kremlin's press service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abubakar Edelgeriev headed the cabinet of ministers (government) of Chechnya on May 24, 2012. After the re-election of Ramzan Kadyrov for the third term in office, Edelgeriev preserved his post.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has congratulated Abubakar Edelgeriev on his appointment as adviser to the Russian president. Edelgeriev has extensive experience in senior positions in Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

He has also explained that "since the Edelgeriev's appointment to the post of presidential adviser, the first deputy prime minister, Ibragim Zakriev, is the acting prime minister of Chechnya. The name of the new head of the government of the Chechen Republic will be known next Monday, on June 25."
