Kadyrov portraits provoke conflict in Pankisi
During the conflict of residents of the Pankisi Gorge with passengers of the cars decorated with portraits of Akhmat Kadyrov, no one was hurt, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.
On Friday, a conflict broke out among residents of the village of Duisi in the Akhmet Municipality, populated mainly by Chechens-Kistians, in connection with which many policemen were mobilized, the "News-Georgia" reports.
Since the 1830s, the Pankisi Gorge is inhabited by Chechens-Kistians and a large group of Chechens, who left Chechnya after the Second Chechen War.
According to local residents, the conflict was provoked by cars with Russian number plates, decorated with portraits of Akhmat Kadyrov. People in the cars chanted: "Akhmat is strong!", while Duisi villagers demanded to remove portraits from the cars; this led to a squabble and a skirmish, the Georgian TV company "Rustavi-2" reports.
