Ukrainian court releases Albert Bogatyryov

The Zhovtnevy Court of the Zaporozhye city has released Albert Bogatyryov, a 50-year-old resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, wanted by Russian investigators on the charge of taking part in training in a militant camp in Syria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 18, 2015, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) announced the initiation of criminal cases against 16 residents of Karachay-Cherkessia on the charges of taking part in training to carry out terrorist activities. The name of Albert Bogatyryov was mentioned among the suspects.

In May 2017, Albert Bogatyryov tried to leave for Turkey and was detained by Ukrainian border guards, since he was wanted by the investigating bodies of Russia. On May 27, 2017, the Shevchenko District Court of Zaporozhye pronounced a decision to arrest the resident of Karachay-Cherkessia.

However, on June 7, 2018, the Zhovtnevy Court of Zaporozhye released Albert Bogatyryov from custody, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reports with reference to his advocate Lyudmila Mezentseva.

Besides, according to the advocate, the State Migration Service of Ukraine has accepted her client's application for refugee status.

Albert Bogatyryov himself denies his involvement in militant groupings in Syria. "Russia has not provided any evidence of my presence in Syria," he said as quoted by the "24tv.ua".
