Armenian Parliament starts discussion of Nikol Pashinyan government's programme

Today, a special session of the Armenian parliament is being held in Yerevan. There is only one issue on the agenda: the approval of the government programme.

The programme is presented by Nikol Pashinyan himself. He started his speech before the MPs with the statement on the need to reform the electoral system.

Armenia remains weak for one and only reason, which is in systematic falsification of elections, the Prime Minister said.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the new government wants to create a working group to discuss the electoral system. Delegates from the government, parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties and civil society will be invited to create the group, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.

The main goal of the foreign policy pursued by the government is to protect the sovereignty of Armenia, ensure the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, and increase the international prestige of the country, Nikol Pashinyan continued. According to him, the main priorities will include the development of strategic allied relations with Russia in various fields, deepening the partnership with the US in the direction of the Armenia's development and supporting the reform agenda.

In economic sphere, Nikol Pashinyan called encouragement of economic competition and exclusion of monopolies the most important guarantee of substantial economic growth.
