"Putin's Detachments" self-liquidate in Southern Russia

Marat Dinaev, the chairman of "Putin's Detachments", has dissolved the movement, saying that activists' actions in Krasnodar were misunderstood. The experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" doubted the sincerity of the hunger strike, allegedly announced by movement members.

On May 24, Marat Dinaev, who is also the chairman of the Fund "Social Justice" Foundation, stated that he and five other activists had been on hunger strike for four days in protest against attempts of local authorities to close the Foundation.

On June 1, Dinaev posted an appeal, on the channel "Putin's Detachments" channel on the YouTube, with his apology to the Russian president. He noted that members of his organization are "absolute supporters" of Vladimir Putin.

In February, a video appeared on the Internet in which activists of the "Putin's Detachments" demanded to close the Telegram messenger, calling its creator Pavel Durov "a traitor."

The activists' hunger strike has to do with the fact that regional authorities no longer need the "Putin's Detachments" after the presidential election, Evgeny Vitishko, the chairman of the Krasnodar regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party, believes.

Members of "Putin's Detachments" had repeatedly attacked the Krasnodar office of the opposition politician Alexei Navalny. Thus, the office was pogromed on July 3, 2017.
