Tomb of Sheikh of Chirkei blown up in Dagestan

Tonight, an explosion has occurred in the room for ziyarat near the grave of Sheikh Said of Chirkei in Dagestan. The suspects have been caught by video surveillance cameras, and they have been already detained, a source reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, 2012, Sufi Sheikh Said of Chirkei was killed as a result of an explosion in his house. A bomb was activated by a female suicide bomber. In total, the explosion killed eight people, including the suicide bomber.

The explosion in the room for ziyarat (ziyarat means for Muslims a pilgrimage to holy places, as well as the very designation of those holy places), located near the grave of Said-Afandi of Chirkei in the village of Chirkei in the Buynaksk District, occurred at 11:53 a.m. Moscow time on May 8.

The suspects have been caught by video surveillance cameras, the "Makhachkala News" reports.

The grave of Said of Chirkei was damaged severely, a source from the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan reports.

The suspects, who are residents of the village of Endirei, have already been detained, the "Kavkaz.Realii" was informed by a source. The press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has promised to release later an official statement about the incident, the portal "Kavkaz.Realii" reports.
