Court extends Oyub Titiev's arrest

Today, the Staropromyslovsky District Court of Grozny has extended the term of arrest of rights defender Oyub Titiev until June 9.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since January 11, Oyub Titiev, the head of the Grozny office of Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", is being kept in custody on the charge of possession of marijuana. The rights defender denied the accusation. According to his version, drugs were planted to him by a law enforcer.

The today's court hearing held in Grozny to extend the Oyub Titiev's detention period has become a surprise for his defenders, and two advocates of Oyub Titiev could not attend it.

The Court has granted the investigator's request and prolonged the detention of Oyub Titiev for another month, until June 9, the HRC "Memorial" reports in its Telegram channel.
