In Q4 of 2017, 42 people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2017, at least 42 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 28 were killed, and at least 14 were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll of 28 victims includes 26 people involved, according to the law enforcement bodies, in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and two law enforcers.

The number of 14 wounded includes 13 law enforcers and one alleged member of the armed underground.

In Q4 of 2017, in Dagestan, 15 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, 12 were killed and other three were wounded. Among those killed, there was one law enforcer and 11 alleged members of the armed underground, while two law enforcers and one alleged militant were wounded.

In October, November and December, in Ingushetia, 12 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, four were killed and other eight were wounded. The death toll includes one law enforcer and three alleged members of the armed underground. All the wounded were law enforcers.

In Q4 of 2017, in Chechnya, at least five people fell victim to the armed conflict; of them, two persons were killed and three wounded. The death toll includes two people involved, according to the law enforcement bodies, in the activities of IAFs. All the wounded were law enforcers.

In October, November and December, in the Stavropol Territory, four people involved, according to the law enforcement bodies, in the activities of IAFs were killed. There is no information about wounded persons.

In Q4 of 2017, in Kabardino-Balkaria, one alleged member of the armed underground fell victim to the armed conflict.

In Q4 of 2017, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, no victims of the armed conflict were registered.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
