Armenian female activists complain about harassments
The police are investigating the incident with women-activists of the "Apricot Country" at a sitting of the Yerevan Council of Elders that occurred on February 13.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 13, Marine Khachatryan and Sona Agekyan, activists of the "Apricot Country", brought cans with sewage water to the sitting of the Council of Elders, aiming to put them on the table of the Yerevan Mayor and draw attention to the failed sewage system of the Nubarashen Prison; however, members of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) forced them out of the hall. According to Ms Khachatryan, she was hit on her head.
She has also stated that the RPA members committed a "sexual assault": when some party members were driving her out of the hall, another RPA's member of the Council of Elders "began touching her."
Zaruhi Postandjyan, the leader of the "Apricot Country", has added that now policemen on duty at the Mayoralty would not let their car to the parking lot.
"This is a real political persecution," she had added.
