Ossetian boxer Murat Gassiev describes preparations for World Boxing Super Series
Boxer Murat Gassiev has every chance of winning a hard match with an experienced rival, stated Alexei Vasiliev, the director of the "Ural Boxing Promotion". Murat Gassiev himself intends to compete in heavyweight category after a fight with Alexander Usik.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 4, Murat Gassiev, a native of Vladikavkaz, defeated Cuban athlete Junier Dorticós in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series in Sochi and won the WBA champion title. Residents of Vladikavkaz celebrated the victory of their fellow countryman with fireworks, shooting and people's festivities.
In the final of the World Boxing Super Series to be held on May 11, Murat Gassiev will meet Ukrainian athlete Alexander Usik, the world champion holding WBC and WBO titles.
The boxer from Vladikavkaz has noted he trains a lot before his fight with Alexander Usik. According to the athlete, in several weeks, he will go to California, where he trained during the past three years.
"When you watch a fight, it seems that it's very simple: two guys are using their fists. Meanwhile, this is preceded by long months of preparation, development of tactics and combinations," the athlete noted.
