Dagestani officials detained within embezzlement case

Abdusamad Gamidov, the head of the government of Dagestan, his deputies and the former minister of education were involved in embezzling the money allocated for the implementation of social programmes, investigators believe. The officials will be delivered to Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the houses of Abdusamad Gamidov, the acting Prime Minister, and his deputies Shamil Isaev and Rayudin Yusufov were searched – according to sources, in connection with the criminal case of the abuse of their service powers. Also, Shakhabas Shakhov, the former Minister of Education of Dagestan, was detained.

Abdusamad Gamidov, Shamil Isaev, Rayudin Yusufov and Shakhabas Shakhov have been detained within a fraud case, the press service of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported, noting that a golden pistol was confiscated from Gamidov in the course of the search.

Investigating actions are also conducted in relation to the heads of several Dagestan districts. Seven persons were brought to interrogations, including Abdusamad Gamidov and his deputies.

Let us note here that on January 24, Musa Musaev, the Mayor of Makhachkala, was arrested on charges of exceeding his authority.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
