Vladikavkaz residents celebrate Gassiev's victory with dancing and shooting
The victory of boxer Murat Gassiev in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series was marked by residents of Vladikavkaz with shooting in the streets and festivities.
Gassiev defeated Cuban Junier Dorticos in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series and won the WBA (World Boxing Association) title. The fight on February 4 in Sochi ended in a Russian's victory by knockout.
Vladikavkaz residents held an improvised motor rally in honour of the victory of their fellow countryman over the Cuban Junier Dorticos. Hundreds of cars drove through the streets of Vladikavkaz with the flags of North Ossetia, the TASS has reported, adding that a mini-concert took place in the centre of the city in honour of the boxer's victory. Townspeople launched fireworks and congratulated each other on the victory of their fellow countryman.
Some residents of Vladikavkaz, while driving their cars, opened fire in the air, chanting the name of the champion, the edition named "Abon" reports.
Murat Gassiev's fans also held a motor rally in Tskhinvali and shot in the air, the IA "Res" reports.
