Makhachkala Vice-Mayor denies information about drowned man in canal

Specialists run off the water in the October Revolution Canal, and no dead body was found there, reported Murad Aliev, Vice-Mayor of Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the Makhachkala village of Leninkent, an outbreak of acute intestinal infection was registered after a man drowned in the October Revolution Canal, the city administration reported. According to the Mayoralty, 37 Makhachkala residents were diagnosed with intestinal infection.

The October Revolution Canal was built in 1923. In June 2017, the authorities of Dagestan announced the plans to completely abandon the canal as a source of drinking water.

Kadilabagand Kadilabagandov, the director of the KOR branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Minmeliovodkhoz for the Republic of Dagestan", reported that the water supply was restored after the search activities. According to him, the version of a drowned man in the canal was not confirmed.
