Media report about Grozny Mayor's secret visit to Georgia
Muslim Khuchiev, Mayor of the Grozny city, a subordinate of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has visited Georgia. Georgian and Chechen officials keep the purpose of his visit in secret.
On January 22, journalists from the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel shot Muslim Khuchiev with a camera in a Batumi hotel, but he did not want to answer their questions, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
According to the journalists, the visit of a Ramzan Kadyrov's subordinate to Georgia may be related to the antiterrorist operation in Tbilisi and the situation in the Pankisi Gorge.
Muslim Khuchiev visited Tbilisi and Batumi and held a series of meetings in an atmosphere of strict secrecy.
An official from the Grozny Mayoralty has confirmed that Muslim Khuchiev unofficially visited Georgia. She also urged the journalists not to make that fact public. Meanwhile, the official from the Grozny Mayoralty also reported that Muslim Khuchiev interrupted his visit and left Georgia, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
Earlier, political analysts questioned by the "Caucasian Knot" called Muslim Khuchiev to be one of the most highly educated politicians out of the Chechen leader's subordinates, although he was remembered for providing massive pro-government actions. Muslim Khuchiev has headed the city administration of Grozny in 2007, and in January 2012, was re-elected as the City Mayor.
