Law enforcers refuse to give out body of man killed in Avtury to relatives

Relatives of Khamzat Baimuradov, suspected of killing the chief of the police station and shot dead during his detention, fear of blood feud, residents of the Avtury village reported. Relatives and friends had no chance to bury the Khamzat Baimuradov's body, since bodies of killed terrorists were not given out to family members, the police reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 3, Abubakar Ustarkhanov, the chief of the local police station, was shot dead in the Avtury village in the Shali District. On January 7, villagers reported that after the assassination, all the men from the Khamzat Baimuradov's family were detained.

Earlier, 27-year-old Khamzat Baimuradov served for the law enforcement bodies and he had earlier criminal record for aiding and abetting militants, reported a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya.

Men from the Khamzat Baimuradov's family left the village or did not appear in the streets, a friend of the Khamzat Baimuradov family reported.

A leader of a Chechen NGO has noted that the Khamzat Baimuradov's body has still not been given out to his family members and no mourning ceremonies have been held in the village of Avtury.

On January 4, a video was released in the Internet, which, according to users, showed the body of Khamzat Baimuradov thrown on the village square.

A policeman did not confirm the information about the detention of Khamzat Baimuradov's relatives.

Officials from the Chechen MIA have added that the police chief killed in the Avtury village left five minor children. The family members of the deceased police officer were provided with financial assistance.

Local residents describe Khamzat Baimuradov as a conflict person.
