Turkish authorities arrest Georgian citizen acquainted with Akhmed Chataev

Gocha Saginadze, a Georgian citizen, detained in Turkey on the charge of having connections with terrorists, has been taken into custody. His wife is to be deported from the country, the agency "Interpressnews" reports with reference to Milliyet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29, it became known about the detention in Turkey of Georgian citizen Gocha (Ali) Saginadze, who was acquainted with Akhmed Chataev. The man was detained at a request of Georgian law enforcers, who examined the mobile phone of Akhmed Chataev and detected his contacts.

Akhmed Chataev, wanted in Russia, was one of three suspects killed in a special operation in Tbilisi on November 21-22. Ethnic Chechen Akhmed Chataev was suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack committed at the Istanbul airport in June 2016.

According to Turkish law enforcers, in the house of Gocha Saginadze, they found photos proving his connection with terrorists in Syria.

Earlier, it has been reported that at the place of Gocha Saginadze, who lived illegally in Turkey together with his wife, law enforcers found materials related to the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia.
