Georgian authorities report granting apartments to 445 IDP families

In Gori, 445 families of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Abkhazia and South Ossetia were granted apartments in eight new buildings, the Georgian authorities reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia reported on the allocation of funds to cover mortgages for 100 families of refugees who purchased housing before January 1, 2017. On April 13, the Georgian government decided to provide housing for 227 refugee families.

"With God's help and our great efforts, we will be able to unite our country and live in peace," emphasized Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili as quoted by the "News-Georgia".

Since 2012, the authorities granted permanent housing to more than 16,000 IDP families, the Prime Minister reported. In total, about 267,000 migrants from Abkhazia and South Ossetia live in Georgia, the "Georgia Online" reports.
