Russia asks Ukraine to extradite Magomed Dukuzov

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Russia has sent a request to Ukraine for the extradition of Magomed Dukuzov, accused of killing Paul Khlebnikov, the editor-in-chief of the Russian Forbes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 18, the Security Service of Ukraine (known as the SBU) reported detention in Kiev of a native of Chechnya, who is suspected of committing a number of contract killings, in particular, of the above Paul Khlebnikov, a US citizen. On November 20, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated that Magomed Dukuzov, who had been on the international wanted list, was detained in Ukraine.

Paul Khlebnikov, the editor-in-chief of the Russian Forbes, was shot dead from a passing car at his office in Moscow on July 9, 2004. In connection with his murder, Magomed and Kazbek Dukuzov, as well as Khozh-Akhmed Nukhaev, were announced for search; investigators assert that the latter was the customer of the murder.

According to the press service of the Russian GPO, a request was sent to Ukraine for the extradition of the suspected killer of Paul Khlebnikov. At the same time, according to the GPO, no information is available about the detention in Ukraine of any other figurants in this murder case.
