In Stepanakert, disabled people ask for a new building of rehabilitation centre
In Nagorno-Karabakh, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the only rehabilitation centre in the republic named after Baroness Caroline Cox held a photo exhibition and an exhibition of art and applied works dedicated to the 18th anniversary of the rehabilitation centre's activities. The patients of the rehabilitation centre interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" highly appreciated the quality of the services provided and the attitude of the personnel, but they complained about the old building of the centre.
Every year, the rehabilitation centre located in Stepanakert provide medical treatment to about 1000 people with disabilities of different ages, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Vardan Tadevosyan, the director of the rehabilitation centre.
Starting from 2011, pensioner Shagen Sanyan visits the rehabilitation centre every year under the state programme.
According to Shagen Sanyan, the authorities should pay more attention to the problem of movement faced by wheelchair users, especially in the places where they live. As far as the old building of the rehabilitation centre in Stepanakert concerns, the pensioner believes that the personnel working here have long deserved a new modern building.
Wheelchair user Vardan Amirdjanyan, the Category I Invalid, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he has been receiving physiotherapeutic treatment in the rehabilitation centre for a month already. According to him, he is satisfied with the medical treatment provided and the personnel of the rehabilitation centre.
"Although the rehabilitation centre has an old building, it is compensated by good attitude towards us from the medical workers," Vardan Amirdjanyan noted.
