Deputies argue on Ingushes' participation in social and political life of North Ossetia

The call of North-Ossetian officials to attract young Ingushes living in the republic to the "Mashuk" Forum has caused some resonance. Deputies from North Ossetia and Ingushetia came into dispute about the situation of Ingushes in the Ossetian society.

The issue of the absence of young Ingushes from the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia was raised by Rustem Kelekhsaev, the head of the administration of the head and the government of North Ossetia, at the government's sitting on November 21.

He was criticized by Djambotat Tedeev, the head coach of the Russian national free wrestling team.

"We are an international republic; apart from Ingushes, there are Dagestanis, Russians, Jews, Armenians and Georgians here; why do we focus on the Ingushes only?" Tedeev asked.

However, the Public Movement "Ingushetia's Support" has complained to the Prosecutor's Office about Mr Tedeev's speech, arguing that Ingushes is the third largest ethnic group in North Ossetia, after Ossetians and Russians.

According to Alikhan Kharsiev, a State Duma MP from Ingushetia, Ingushes are not integrated into the Ossetian society.

Yuni Uspanov, an activist from the North-Ossetian city of Mozdok, has also pointed out that Ingushes are infringed in the republic, the website "On Kavkaz" reports.

This September, Ingush nationals applied to participate in the parliamentary elections, but none of them was elected to the Supreme Legislative Body of North Ossetia, the republic's Central Election Commission (CEC) has reported.
