Leader of "Musavat" Party branch detained in Shirvan

Members of the opposition "Musavat" Party treat the detention of Alikram Khurshudov as persecution for political reasons.

"In the evening on November 22, Alikram Khurshudov was literally kidnapped in a street in the city of Shirvan. It was only closer to midnight when we managed to find out he was being kept at the city police department. The police do not explain the reasons for his detention," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Elman Fattakh, the deputy chairman of the "Musavat" Party.

According to him, Alikram Khurshudov "is being persecuted for his political activity and sharp critical posts in the Facebook." "So, several days ago, he wrote that in Shirvan, public employees were forcibly registered as members of the ruling 'Yeni Azerbaijan' Party," stated Elman Fattakh.

Officials from the Shirvan city police department have refused to comment on the situation and recommended to contact the press service for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Meanwhile, officials of the MIA have replied that they do not yet have any information on the detention of Alikram Khurshudov.
