Nerses Pogosyan goes on hunger strike in Yerevan prison
Nerses Pogosyan, a defendant in the case against Zhirair Sefilyan, the leader of the "100th Anniversary without Regime", has declared indefinite hunger strike after the court refused to release him from arrest.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nerses Pogosyan was taken into custody on May 31, 2016. He is accused of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. According to investigators, Nerses Pogosyan cooperated with Zhirair Sefilyan, one of the leaders of the movement "100th Anniversary without Regime". The defendant pleads not guilty.
A motion for the release of Nerses Pogosyan was filed to the court by the parliamentary faction "Elk". Today, the motion has been dismissed by the judge. Nerses Pogosyan has stated he starts today indefinite hunger strike as a sign of protest, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that during his stay in custody, Nerses Pogosyan declared hunger strike for the second time already. For the first time, he was on dry hunger strike from January 27 until February 3, when he stopped it because of sharp deterioration in his health state.
