ICRF stops prosecuting "EcoWatch" leaders
In the case on defamation of Alexander Remezkov, a State Duma MP, the criminal proceedings against Andrei Rudomakha and Dmitry Shevchenko, the leaders of the "Ecological Watch on Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), have been terminated. This was reported by advocates from the International Human Rights Group "Agora".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the criminal case was instituted in September 2016.
In the course of the investigation, the authorship and linguistic examinations were carried out. The first examination has failed to confirm that Andrei Rudomakha and Dmitry Shevchenko were the authors of the publications, which became the reason for the State Duma deputy's appeal to the court. The second examination showed that the publications contained nothing to discredit the Alexander Remezkov's dignity, the "Mediazona" reports with reference to Andrei Sabinin, an advocate from the "Agora".
According to the advocates, the criminal proceedings are terminated, since the ecologists had not been involved in the crime.
Let us remind you the claim was provoked by the publication stating that Alexander Remezkov had summer cottages in the Krasnodar Territory.
