One man killed in mine explosion in Yerevan

Two persons were injured in a mine explosion in a yard of a private house in Yerevan, and one of them died in a hospital.

According to the Armenia Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the explosion occurred in the evening on August 2 in the Davidashen District. According to the preliminary information, young people tried to saw a shell, and that resulted in an explosion.

The victims were hospitalized to the "Armenia" medical centre, where one of them died. The state of the second one is assessed as extremely severe, the "Interfax" reports with reference to an official from the Armenian MfE.

"A 120-mm artillery shell and numerous fragments of another exploded shell were found at the place of the incident. Examinations have been appointed, and investigation is underway," the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Armenian police.
