AIBA decides to hold 2019 World Cup in Sochi

The right to host the 2019 World Boxing Championship was claimed by India, Ukraine, Thailand and Turkey. However, the executive committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) decided to hold the championship in Sochi.

Besides, in 2018, Moscow will host the Congress of the International Boxing Association.

Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov believes that Sochi will host the championship at a high level. "Due to the available Olympic legacy, there is everything necessary to hold the championship," the "Interfax" quotes Pavel Kolobkov as stating.

The confidence in the high level of organization for the championship was also expressed by AIBA President Ching-Kuo Wu. According to him, the leaders of the Russian Boxing Federation conduct serious work to popularize the sport.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi were ended with the triumph of the Russian national team, which won the highest number of prize places and medals. The results of the Paralympic Games were similar: Russia won the record number of 80 medals.
