Bako Sahakyan elected President of Nagorno-Karabakh

In Nagorno-Karabakh, 28 out of 32 deputies of the National Assembly voted for the candidacy of Bako Sahakyan, the current leader of the country.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the adoption of the new Constitution for Nagorno-Karabakh, the president is elected for a transitional period, until 2020, when the next parliamentary elections are to be held. The "Free Motherland" Party, the "Democratic Party of Artsakh", and the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" Party stated that they would support the candidacy of incumbent President Bako Sahakyan. The "Movement-88" Party nominated its leader Eduard Agabekyan as a candidate for presidency.

32 deputies attended the session, and one deputy was absent for a good reason. The presence of 17 deputies was needed to secure a quorum. According to the results of the secret voting, 28 deputies out of 32 voted for Bako Sahakyan, 4 deputies voted against him, and no one abstained. Four candidates voted for Eduard Agabekyan, the second presidential candidate, and 28 deputies voted against him, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
