"Terek" fans oppose FC's renaming into "Akhmat"

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has announced renaming the "Terek" Football Club (FC) into "Akhmat" as a final fact. Fans of the club in social networks have criticized this decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 6, Akhmed Aidamirov, Director General of the "Terek" FC, said that the FC's board of directors had agreed with the renaming. He explained it by "numerous requests received from fans."

This night, Ramzan Kadyrov has announced that the club was renamed. He explained it by the fact that his father, the first president of Chechnya, "Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov, by overcoming huge difficulties, had recreated the Football Club. Not just the revival, but the creation of the football team anew, from scratch, is his merit."

One of the users of the community "Terek Fans" asked the members of the community whether they liked the new name. As of 1:40 a.m. Moscow time on June 6, 2017, 202 (12.4%) votes were cast for the renaming, and 1421 (87.6%) votes were cast against it.

The information about the renaming is accompanied by negative comments.

"This club does not exist for me, let them fan for it themselves," wrote Timur MMM, a user.

"Never in my life will I got to a match of this club until it becomes 'Terek' again!!!" Ruslan Movsurov has stated.
