After US tournament, Maria Kuchina heads world ranking in high jump

Maria Lasitskene (Kuchina), a track and field athlete from Kabardino-Balkaria, took part in the third stage of the prestigious series of the track-and-field events "Diamond League" in the American city of Eugene. She took the bar installed at height of 2.03 meters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in summer 2016, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) refused Russian track and field athletes in permission to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games in connection with the doping scandal. In April, the IAAF admitted Maria Kuchina to international competitions.

In her first international tournament after the IAAF's decision, Maria Lasitskene won the competition and topped the world ranking in high jump. This was reported by her coach Gennady Gabrielyan. He has also added that Maria Lasitskene does not intend to stop at that level, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports.

The height taken by Maria Lasitskene is a repetition of her personal record, which she set last winter, the website "Track and field athletics of Russia" reports.
