Residents of North Ossetia detained while selling a newborn baby
A resident of North Ossetia offered a woman together with her friend to act as agents in the sale of her newborn baby. They were detained, investigators report.
According to investigators, in early April, the suspected woman suggested her pregnant friend, who experienced financial difficulties, to sell her baby child after the birth.
"The woman agreed. Law enforcers acted as buyers, who agreed with the suspects about the purchase and sale of a newborn baby for 330,000 roubles," reports today the website of the Investigating Department for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
According to the ICRF's Investigating Department, on May 15, the suspects brought the newborn boy to an allegedly childless couple, got a part of the requested amount of 100,000 roubles and were detained by field investigators. The newborn baby is healthy and placed to the Children's RepublicanClinicalHospital in Vladikavkaz. His life is not in danger, reports the ICRF's Investigating Department for North Ossetia.
A criminal case has been instituted against 24-year-old and 35-year-old female residents of Alagir and a 37-year-old resident of the village of Komsomolskoye in the Kirov District, reports the ICRF's Investigating Department.
