In Makhachkala, participants of "Antiterror" rally call action a "fiction"

On April 8, in Dagestan, the antiterrorist rally lasted about 15 minutes. Residents of the republic were obliged to take part in the event. This was reported by participants of the event interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 8, after the terror act was committed in Saint Petersburg, where on April 3, 14 people were killed as a result of an explosion in the metro, antiterrorist rallies were organized in various cities, including in the south of Russia and Northern Caucasus. The lists of people hospitalized with injuries after the explosion included 51 persons.

The local pro-government newspaper "Dagestanskaya Pravda" reported about 17,000 participants of the rally held in Makhachkala on April 8. However, eyewitnesses treat those figures as exaggerated and estimate the number of participants as about 3000-5000 people.

The antiterrorist rally lasted only about 15 minutes, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Participants of the rally interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have stated that their presence at the rally was secured by "strict orders from the chiefs."

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Patimat, a participant of the rally, an employee of an agency subordinated to the Dagestani Ministry of Culture, that the event was attended by the majority of the employees of her public institution.

"I believe that the event was held at the level of fiction, although the events on countering terrorism are very important and necessary, especially for Dagestan," noted a participant of the rally.
