MoJ admits absence of links of criminality with publications of Jehovah's Witnesses

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has no information about the offences committed under the influence of the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses, the spokesperson of the MoJ told the court. According to his story, the claimants also have no data about the number of religious associations of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the MoJ asked the court to reclaim the property, which, according to the Ministry, belongs to the Administrative Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

The spokesperson of the MoJ has stated that the organization's activities fail to comply with its charter; and the Administrative Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses "too part in financing local religious organizations, recognized as extremist."

Since March 15, the Russian MoJ suspended the activities of the Administrative Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, accusing the organization of violating the legislation, including the law on extremism.

The advocate Zhenkov has noted that "the materials treated as extremist make only 0.1% of the entire literature of Jehovah's Witnesses."

It should be noted that local religious organizations in the Southern Federal and North-Caucasian Federal Districts (SFD and NCFD) of Russia were repeatedly fined for using the literature published by Jehovah's Witnesses, which was later put on the Federal List of Extremist Materials.
