Dagestan: truckers’ rally disrupted

Today, in Dagestan, policemen have stopped a motor rally against the "Platon" system by blocking truck drivers from leaving for the highway Magas-Makhachkala. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ruslan Magomedov, one of the participants of the protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27 Russian truckers resumed their mass protests against the "Platon" system, launched to collect payment from heavy truck drivers for using federal highways. Protest actions took place, in particular, in Volgograd, Astrakhan, Baksan, truckers are also on strike in Dagestan and North Ossetia.

According to Ruslan Magomedov, after the entries to the highway Magas-Makhachkala were blocked by the policemen, Dagestani truck drivers "tried to reach the highway through field roads, but their ways were again blocked by law enforcers."

Thus, truck drivers cannot start their rally planned for today, Ruslan Magomedov notes. "OMON (special forces) fighters and soldiers are brought to the place of the rally," the protester said.
