Derbent residents oppose participation of Moscow company in building houses for resettlement

Houses for participants of the resettlement programme in Derbent should be built by local companies, without the Moscow's LLC “Granit”, said the tenants of the emergency houses. Officials assured them that they trust “Granit”, while subcontractors have warned that until they see specific sum of payment for their work in their contracts, they would not start the construction.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in January tenants of 26 houses in Derbent, covered by the resettlement programme from emergency and dilapidated houses, protested against the demolition of their houses and the need to move from the city centre to the outskirts.

Today, tenants had another meeting with Abdusamad Gamidov, the Chairman of Dagestan Government.

The tenants said they did not trust the contractor, and demanded to disclose the balance of accounts of the company. They said they did not want the developer, which cannot guarantee the fulfilment of its obligations.

They also spoke in favour of building the houses without the mediation of the Moscow company.

At the meeting, some tenants asked Gamidov, when distributing the apartments, to take into account their situation, such as the status of a merited figure, or the presence of a disabled child.

Abdusamad Gamidov has assured people that their expenses for hiring housing for the period of construction would be compensated by the general contractor.
