"Garage" Museum to exhibit paintings of artists of southern Russia at first triennial exposition

Today, in Moscow, the "Garage" Museum is to open the first triennial exposition of the Russian contemporary art. The exposition will include paintings created by 68 artists from all over Russia, including from North Ossetia, Dagestan, Chechnya, and Krasnodar.

Founded in 2008, the "Garage" Museum is the first philanthropic organization in Russia to develop contemporary art and culture. The main tasks of the "Garage" Museum is to acquaint Russia with the achievements of contemporary art, to raise the prestige of the national contemporary culture, and to support the younger generation of Russian artists, the website of the "Garage" Museum reports.

According to the organizers, the exposition will include earlier created paintings and paintings created by the artists especially for the exhibition.

In preparation for the triennial exposition, supervisors of the "GarageMuseum visited more than 40 Russian cities and met there more than 200 artists of 19-69 years old.

The triennial exposition includes seven major directories and trends. According to the organizers of the exhibition, the above trends are typical for all Russian regions. The major trends are "Master-Figure", "Author Mythologies", "Faithfulness to Place", "Common Language", "Art of Action", "Street Morphology", and "Local History of Art".

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
