Chechnya sees increased refusals to vaccinate children

Users of the WhatsApp in Chechnya have spread a story of the nurse about serious complications in children after vaccination against poliomyelitis. Despite the refutation by the Republic's Ministry of Public Health, many parents continue refusing to vaccinate their children.

The nurse Kameta Djautkhanova has reported that after vaccination two small children were hospitalized in grave condition.

A local law enforcement source told the "Caucasian Knot" that "no confirmation of complications in small children after vaccination was found."

Djautkhanova ceased to appear at work; they say she was fired, said a female employee of the Republic's Clinical Centre of Infectious Diseases in Grozny.

The children vaccination campaign was launched in Chechnya in November 2016, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health.

Residents of Chechnya reported that they were suspicious to the vaccination.

"The human body itself is able to fight diseases without any vaccination," a resident of Grozny named Imran believes.

Parents of children, visiting pre-school institutions, complain that unvaccinated children are not let to kindergartens.

In their turn, lawyers state that such actions of bosses of pre-school institutions are illegal.
