Azerbaijani blogger Rashad Agaaddin placed into dungeon

The blogger Rashad Agaaddin, convicted in 2013 on charges of illegal drug dealing, for the first time since his imprisonment was placed into dungeon. The colony administration did not name the reasons for the punishment, his advocate said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Agaaddin was detained on May 9, 2013, in Baku. According to investigators, 9 grams of heroin was found in his trousers during detention. Agaaddin said that he was persecuted for his entries on the Facebook with criticism of the authorities. On November 13, 2013, the court sentenced him to nine years in prison.

Azer Nagiev, the blogger's advocate, said that his client's rights were violated. He lodged a complaint to the bosses of the Penitentiary Service.

Nagiev has added that the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted the complaint against the verdict to Agaaddin, but the communication on the case with the Government of Azerbaijan has not yet begun.

Let us note here that the Amnesty International announced Agaaddin as a "prisoner of conscience". He is also on the list of political prisoners, released by Azerbaijani rights defender on October 17, 2016.
