Istanbul: Chechen Diaspora denies detention of its members for attempting to join IS
There are no Chechens among the detained foreigners suspected of an attempt to join militants in Syria. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by members of the Chechen Diaspora in Istanbul. Journalist Saslanbek Isaev associates frequent references to Chechens in the Turkish media with the preparation for mass extradition of immigrants from Northern Caucasus at the request of Russia.
Let us remind you that on January 7, the Turkish news agency "Anadolu" reported that in the city of Tartus of the Mersin Province, the police detained four natives of Chechnya, who tried to join the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia.
Members of the Chechen Diaspora in Istanbul believe that it was a deliberate stuffing of misinformation.
"The news refers to names similar to Arabic ones. There are no such names in Chechnya. Besides, there is no city of Tartus in Turkey. This city is located in the territory of Syria," said one of the leaders of the Chechen Diaspora in Istanbul.
According to journalist Saslanbek Isaev, at present, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan tries to resist the Western pressure and surrender the ideological platform of Islamism, on which he used to rely.
