Source from Chechen MPH: three militants detained in Grozny are dead

The three persons, detained in the course of a special operation in Grozny and hospitalized with wounds, are no longer alive, said a source from the Chechen Ministry of Public Health (MPH). This information caused a resonance among residents of Chechnya, who admit that the point may be in extrajudicial executions. So far, there is no confirmation of this information from other sources.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17, attacks on policemen were committed in Grozny. During a special operation that followed, according to power agents, seven suspected militants were killed and four others were detained.

The "Kommersant" has reported, citing its law enforcement source, that among those detained were Askhab Yusupov and Ismail Bergoev, both 29 years old. Another source from the Chechen police has added that the 18-year-old girlfriend of the killed Islam Altemirov was also wounded. The name of the wounded girl is Madina Shakhbieva, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" has added. Besides, among the wounded and detained persons was a man named Shakhbiev, the Life reports.

As of December 22, two wounded young men were in hospital with gunshot wounds, while the girl had her leg amputated, said the source.

"If the detainees are alive and in hospital, it is sufficient to show them on TV... It's important to know what had happened to them. They can't be regarded as militants, if it hasn't been proved by the court," said the head of one of NGOs.
