FSB reports 24 residents of Adygea, who joined the IS

The number of residents of Adygea, who went in the past two years to the territory, controlled by the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist grouping banned in Russia, has reached 24, the regional Department of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March this year, the FSB announced that 22 residents of Adygea had left to fight for the IS.

Now, the FSB has confirmed that in 2015, 22 persons entered the territory of Syria and Iraq; two more joined the terrorists in 2016.

"During the last 2 years, 24 residents of Adygea went to the Middle East, into the territory controlled by militants of terrorist organizations. Two more have joined them this year. Law enforcement bodies have worked efficiently and opened 11 criminal cases; 7 of them – this year. All the figurants have been put on the interstate and international wanted lists," the TASS quotes the FSB's statement today.
