In Karachay-Cherkessia, six persons detained on suspicion of involvement in IS

Detainees were members of a grouping under the control of militants from of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia. This was reported by the FSB Department for Karachay-Cherkessia.

The number of detainees includes residents of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), Dagestan, and the Stavropol Territory.

"According to reports, the main aims of the grouping were to destabilize the social and political situation by committing sabotage and terrorist acts and armed attacks on law enforcers," reported an official of the FSB Department for Karachay-Cherkessia as quoted by the "Interfax".

According to the FSB Department for the KChR, a hiding belonging to the detainees was discovered. From the hiding and from house of the leader of the grouping, FSB agents seized weapons, ammunition, explosives, and video records depicting how the detainees had sworn allegiance the IS. Besides, the FSB agents have also found a map of Karachay-Cherkessia with marked buildings of the law enforcement bodies and checkpoints of the road-and-patrol police (known as DPS), the "TASS" reports with reference to Anna Lyzina, the press secretary of the FSB Department for the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic.
