In Gori, Irakli Okruashvili, a candidate for deputy, the former Georgian Minister of Defence, was shelled during his meeting with voters. His bodyguard and an activist of his election headquarters were wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the elections to the Georgian Parliament are scheduled for October 8. The pre-election campaign was launched on June 8.

The incident occurred in the town of Gori (located in the eastern part of Georgia) on October 2. Two men came to the meeting of Irakli Okruashvili with voters. Then, after a verbal altercation with him and his supporters, one of the men took out a gun and opened fire, the "Georgia Online" reports.

Irakli Okruashvili has stated that he was attacked by Alexander Induashvili, who had earlier several criminal records for murder and robbery, and Eduard Nutsubidze, one of the coordinators of the "Georgian Dream" Party, the "News-Georgia" reports.
