Circassian activist Adnan Khuade released from custody

Today, the judicial board on criminal cases of the Supreme Court (SC) of the Republic of Adygea has pronounced the decision to change the pre-trial restriction measure against Adnan Khuade from detention in custody to house arrest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening of May 5, the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot" got a message reporting on the detention of Adnan Khuade, a Circassian activist, a repatriate from Turkey, on suspicion of bribing an official. On May 11, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Adygea reported that Adnan Khuade was subjected to administrative arrest for 15 days for driving a car without a licence. Later, the Investigating Department for Adygea of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported that the activist was suspected of bribing an official.

The Court has considered the appeal filed by the defence of Adnan Khuade against the pre-trial restriction measure and made a conclusion on violations committed in extension of the pre-trial restriction measure. This was reported by Iland Abregov, an advocate of Adnan Khuade.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on December 17, 2015, Adnan Khuade, his daughter and their assistant were arrested for 15 days after a conflict with FSB agents in Adygea. Earlier, the Circassian activist has been already subjected to pressure from the law enforcement bodies and complained about searches at his working place and at home.
