Gukovo: miners agree to stop their hunger strike against authorities' guarantees

Protests will be terminated against the authorities' guarantees to pay off wage arrears completely and give out rations of coal. This was stated by participants of hunger strike in Gukovo. At present, the number of hunger-strikers is 176 people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the wage arrears to workers of the company "Kingcoal" are being paid by the "Regional Development Corporation" of the Rostov Region.

Today, about 200 miners have come to a picket in front of the "Kingcoal" office.

According to coordinators of the miners' protests, two former workers of the "Kingcoal" had to "stop the hunger strike because of deterioration of their health." In particular, today, "during the picket, 66-year-old Lydia Matviyenko, who suffers from diabetes, felt bad."

Victor Gavrishkov, a coordinator of the protests from the mine "Almaznaya", has reported that "during the past three days, the payments to the miners were suspended because of disagreements between the bankruptcy trustees and agents of the 'Regional Development Corporation'."

The picketers are not satisfied with the fact that the people "are paid only a small part of the wage arrears."

As at September 5, part of the wage arrears was repaid to 724 miners of the "Kingcoal", reports the press service of the regional government.
