Volgograd schoolchildren dedicate "Tears of Beslan" to victims of terror acts

The play, based on real events, was staged today at the Culture Palace of the Voroshilov District of Volgograd. The events in the Beslan School were reconstructed by the pupils of the propaganda theatre "Nabat" (Alarm) and theatrical studio "Breeze". The event was visited by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 people hostage in the Beslan School No. 1. The rescue operation was completed on September 3, 2004. The terror act killed 334 people, including 186 children. 810 people were injured.

The literary-musical composition "Tears of Beslan", presented in Volgograd, is compiled of the verses written by children, who perished in Beslan School No. 1, and of poems created by indifferent Russians.

"This is a tragic play, dedicated to Beslan victims, but also to victims of all terror acts, including those committed in Volgograd. We are trying to convey the horror of what happened to our spectators. We want children of Volgograd to pass it all through, because it can happen at any moment. It's impossible to protect oneself against the terror threat; and people should always be on the alert. The play is based on documentary material; it recites the poetry of the Beslan girl, written before her death. The children, acting in the play, perform roles of particular children, who were in the Beslan School. The performance is hard; even adults are in tears," Irina Yarovaya, Director of the "Victoria" Centre of Patriotic Upbringing, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
