Yerevan court refuses to arrest Mironov

A court in Yerevan has denied the petition lodged by the Armenian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) demanding to arrest Sergey Mironov, a Russian citizen, for 40 days. The latter left the courthouse accompanied by a Russian diplomat.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Russian citizen Sergey Mironov, who works as a programmer for a Russian-Belarusian company, was detained in Yerevan on 26 August. He faced extradition to the United States; however, his advocate said that he did not find Mironov's name in the databases of international search.

The USA have charged Mironov under the articles of the US Criminal Code: "Conspiracy to violate Arms Export Control Act" and "An attempt to violate Arms Export Control Act", as well as with money laundering.

In the course of the today's session, Yerevan court has dismissed the GPO's petition asking to arrest Sergey Mironov. He was released and left the courthouse escorted by a Russian diplomat and his advocate, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Sergey Mironov said that he was satisfied with the judgement; and his wife Yulia Mironova added that Armenia has proved that "it's Russia's good friend," the "Interfax" reports.
