Kuban farmers blocked by police in Rostov Region

Policemen have blocked farmers and their vehicles in a roadside hotel in the Aksai District of Rostov Region, the participants of the tractor rally have stated. According to their version, after the pressure of the police and governmental officials, they decided to abandon the idea of protests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, up to 300 farmers gathered for a rally in the village of Kazanskaya, Caucasian District of the Krasnodar Territory. They stated raider’s captures of their land plots with crops by large agricultural holdings and failure of regional authorities to protect their interests.

On August 21, the participants of the tractor rally covered about 130 km in the Krasnodar Territory; they were stopped four times by policemen.

Alexei Volchenko, the leader of the movement "Polite Farmers”, said that in the Rostov Region the column “was stopped 10 times; they were offered to abandon the protest and had their documents photographed."

He added that "the aim of the rally was to meet President Vladimir Putin." "Farmers and truckers are going to demand resignation of the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Alexander Tkachov," said Volchenko.

According to Vasily Melnichenko, a farmer from the Urals, farmers are not protected; and their support programmes are not valid.
