DWF welcomes Olympic results

The Dagestani wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulaev has won the expected gold medal, while the defeat of Bilal Makhov was a misfortune, but not a failure, the Dagestani Wrestling Federation (DWF) has stated. Milana Dadasheva, despite her early dropout, received an important experience for future performances, coaches believe.

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro were closed on August 21. Athletes from Southern Russia and South-Caucasian countries have won 48 medals.

In general, the DWF treats the performance of Dagestani athletes at the Olympic Games as successful, Abshin Abshinov, the DWF’s first vice-president, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Emma Magomedova, a coach of the Russian women's wrestling national team, has noted that she is already receiving applications from parents who wish to send their children to wrestling schools.

In total, ten Dagestani wrestlers represented other countries at the Games: some of them could not get into the Russian national team due to high competition; others left the republic at early stages of their career.
