Relatives of Ilez and Djovkhar Tsechoev claim violations of their rights in Belgorod and Magas

Ingush residents Ilez and Djovkhar Tsechoev, transported to Magas from Belgorod, were subjected to torture. This was claimed by their relatives who appealed for help to human rights defenders.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 5, in Magas, the court pronounced the decision to arrest Ilez Tsechoev and his friend Djovkhar Tsechoev for two months. The residents of Ingushetia, transferred from Belgorod, are suspected of aiding and abetting militants, and they face up to ten years of imprisonment.

Pyatimat Tsechoeva, the mother of Djovkhar Tsechoev, and Aza Kukurkhoeva, the mother of Ilez Tsechoev, have appealed to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", to the human rights organization "Mashr", as well as to the Ingush Ombudsman.

According to Pyatimat Tsechoeva, on July 4, she learned that Djovkhar Tsechoev was brought by law enforcers to Ingushetia. "I have learned that from advocate Herman Agiev, appointed by investigators. I have also learned that my son and his friend were tortured during interrogations," Pyatimat Tsechoev wrote in her appeal.

In their appeals, Pyatimat Tsechoeva and Aza Kukurkhoeva ask human rights defenders "to intervene in the situation to protect the detainees from torture and fabrication of a criminal case."
